Safety & Health Day - May 24th
Posted Date:
5/5/2017
Mark your calendar for the 2017 Safety & Health Day scheduled for Wednesday, May 24th at Aberdeen Lake Park. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. with many beneficial screenings including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, body composition, weight, height, prostate cancer, and skin cancer screening. Other activities will include several educational classes and chair massages. Educational classes will include Self Defense, Jazzercize, “How to Cook Healthy Meals with Fresh Fruits and Vegetables”, and How to Maximize your Dollars in your 401k Account.

Several vendors will be onsite and available for questions from employees including First Carolina Care, Digital Benefits, LGFCU, BB&T, Pro-Benefits (flexible spending accounts), Prudential 401(k) & 457, First Quit, Employee Assistance Program, Colonial Life, First Health Fitness Center, Legal Shield, and Sandhills Farm to Table.

Information will also be presented on any upcoming changes to medical, dental, life, and vision insurance. If you need to make a change to dependent or spouse coverage, May 24th is the day to take care of those changes. Flexible spending enrollment forms will also need to be completed on May 24th.

At the conclusion of the morning activities, there will be a catered lunch provided by Texas Roadhouse that you will not want to miss. The menu will include BBQ ribs, steak, baked potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls, and dessert. Following lunch, a fun team building activity will be held with exciting prizes to be awarded. Interdepartmental competitions will take place again this year, and dates are available below.

All Town offices will need to remain operational at all times of the day, so that Town business can still be conducted for the citizens of Aberdeen. Staff will need to be rotated throughout the morning so that everyone has an opportunity to participate in the Safety & Health Day. And for all those employees that participate, there will be drawings at the conclusion of the day at 3:00 p.m. for prizes.

If you participate in the Safety and Health Day and visit all of the vendors, participate in the health screenings, enjoy a chair massage, participate in the insurance presentation, and enjoy at least one of the educational classes—then you will qualify for door prizes.  It is extremely easy to qualify for door prizes by just spending a couple hours at the Safety and Health Day.

Door Prizes include gift cards to local restaurants and stores, VISA gift cards, and 8-hour vacation days.  Door prizes will be drawn at 3:00 p.m., and you do not have to be present to win door prizes.   Last year every one that qualified for door prizes, received a door prize.
