FREE Health Screenings to be Offered
Posted Date:
11/4/2013
FirstCarolinaCare will be bringing the mobile health unit to the Town of Aberdeen to provide diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings for all full-time Town of Aberdeen employees.

These free health screenings will be conducted as follows:
Do not eat for 9 hours before your appointment. You may have only water and black coffee to drink.

After your screenings, you will have an opportunity to meet with a nurse to discuss your results. After reviewing your results, you will be asked to set two health goals for yourself for the following 6 months. Your goals may be whatever you would like for them to be—you will be the one setting the goals. Examples may include: lose 5 pounds, maintain current weight, lower blood pressure by 2%, lower cholesterol by 2%, etc. Six months later, in May 2014, you will receive your screenings again and if you have met at least one of your goals, then you will get to participate in an ice cream social. The Cold Stone Creamery ice cream truck will visit the Town and bring free ice cream to those who succeeded in meeting their goal(s). So don’t delay, schedule your appointment!

And remember, participation in your twice a year health screenings and goal setting is a requirement in order to receive the wellness incentive and not be responsible for 10% of your health insurance.

Flu Shots Still Available

If you are interested in receiving a free flu shot, and were not able to participate in our previous flu shot clinic, First Carolina Care will be offering flu shots again during the health screenings to be held on Tuesday, November 13th at the Fire Department.  If you are interested in receiving a flu shot on November 13th, please contact Regina so sufficient vaccinations will be available.
