Wellness Initiative
Posted on Wednesday July 08, 2015
In an effort to increase employee participation in annual physical exams, provide motivation for tobacco use cessation, and increase overall better health of our employees, the Town will continue the same wellness initiative for the upcoming fiscal year.

Employees will be required to pay 10% of their health insurance effective July 1, 2016. However, a 10% wellness incentive will be offered to those employees who participate in the following three health-related activities during FY 2015-2016:
  • Annual physical exam & health risk assessment (Both forms to be submitted to First Carolina Care prior to April 30, 2016—addressed envelopes are available in each dept.)
  • Participation in the “Tobacco Use 101” class for tobacco users. This class will be offered 2 times during the year, and if employees wish to pursue the First Quit program, it will be available for employees to participate in as well.
  • Participation in at least one additional wellness program during FY 2015-2016. Examples of wellness programs that would qualify include annual pap smear, annual mammogram, colonoscopy, weight loss competition, First Quit, kickball league, flu shot, walking challenge, etc.
Employees who did not participate in the three required activities during FY 2014-2015, will be charged 10% of their health insurance beginning with the first paycheck in July 2015. That 10% amount equates to $18.50/paycheck, which will be pre-taxed. If you are unsure of whether you met the requirement, please call Regina or Jamie to get a status update.
